At Rheumatology Associates of Maui, we are committed to providing timely, high-quality specialty care while ensuring that each patient receives the most appropriate evaluation and treatment. To help our physicians thoroughly review each case before your first visit, the following referral policy applies to all new patients.
Referral Requirement
All new patients must be referred by their Primary Care Provider (PCP). At this time, we do not accept self-referrals.
To ensure safe, accurate, and timely patient care, all prescription requests, laboratory orders, and imaging orders require provider review before they are processed.
Please allow up to 72 business hours for the completion of:
Business hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (HST). Requests submitted after business hours, on holidays, or during office closures will be processed on the next business day.
To avoid delays in your care, please request prescription refills before your medication runs out and allow adequate time if laboratory testing or prior authorization is required.
If your request is medically urgent, please notify our office when contacting us so that it may be appropriately triaged by our clinical team.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to provide safe, high-quality care to all of our patients.
Due to the high demand for rheumatology services and the limited availability of appointments, we ask that you provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, as well as missed appointments (no-shows), will be assessed a $150 fee.
This fee is not billable to insurance and is the financial responsibility of the patient.

Rheumatology Associates of Maui is not responsible for any charges from your wireless provider.
Opt In By providing your mobile phone number, you authorize Rheumatology Associates of Maui to send you SMS text messages related to your care and our services.
Opt Out You may opt out of receiving text messages at any time by replying STOP to any SMS message from our office. Once you opt out, youwill no longer receive text messages unless you choose to opt back in.
Privacy Your privacy is important to us. We will never sell or share your mobile phone number with third parties for marketing purposes. SMS messages are not intended for medical emergencies or to communicate highly sensitive medical information. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
